Feedback on the draft

I held a group discussion with some members of my class,  had conversations about it with my teachers, and received feedback from my class mates on my blog. This is the feedback that I got and how I am going to go forward and improve upon my work.

I had a lot of trouble taking the shots for the magazine so, the feedback was mainly related to that, but I did pick up some feedback about other stuff. My cover page the title at the top was liked and didn't need much work, however the fact that I had used that font on every page and I was told that on my double page spreed I should pick a font that is more suited to the artist.

My contents page, I was told the layout was too flat and it was too like a list and I needed to make it look a bit uneven, also the image was well out of proportion, I was also told that I should include more images on my contents page, they think that this would help to brake up the order of the page, and make it look like a proper magazine. I also do no like the font that I have used for the bulk of my text so I want to change that, to something that is a rounded, I original thought that the different font would work, but I think because of thew genre of the magazine and my feedback that it needs to be changed.

I was also told that I should put more information on the front cover, as the type of shot that I have taken is not drastic or shocking enough to make that front cover, so I need to include more information to fill it and make it more interesting.

This is the draft version of my double page spread other than the fact that the shots weren't taken outside this is exactly how I wanted this shot to look and how it will look inside the actual magazine.

This is not the shot that I wish to get for my final contents, that shot will be taken outside, but I am not sure if this will be the stance that I will use for the final peice this was the one shot that I was unsure about, and their are many different ideas that I am considering.

Draft Front Cover

This is my Draft Front cover, due to weather restrictions I could not go outside and get the kind of shots that I want to get, but when it comes down to the actual thing I will make sure that I have the shots. The shot that I will be aiming for will be him leaning up against a tree out in a field with the same look on him, but in that natural environment.

Bauer Media Group:

Bauer were founded in 1875 by Heinrich Bauer and his family, and they are a company that operate in 15 countries across the globe, their base is in Germany. As a company they sell over 38,000,000 magazines a week between all of their magazines. They produce loads of different magazines some music related some not. The  music magazines that they produce are some of the biggest name music magazines there are such as Q, Kerrang and Mojo. There are 282 in total, they also own a 50% stake in a  British TV company called Box Television (the other half owned by channel four) and also have their own radio station. They are currently the UK's biggest publishing group, and in 2010 recorded taking in excess of over 2 billion euros.

I think that Bauer would want to publish my magazine as it fits in well with there other magazines and perhaps offers them something a little bit different to the other magazines that they offer, in the fact that it will cover smaller and artists that are perhaps younger and just appeared on the scene, that should make it different from all of the others and should fits in to a different market and could be a successful magazine for them.

Colour Analysis

I have chosen these as a very basic representation of the colours that I want to use in my magazine, the blue will be the colour of all of my fonts and boxes of information (font inside those boxes will be white), the green is there to represent the natural colouring that will be in my images in the form of a backdrop that will involve trees, grass etc. The orange represents the colour that I hope that the sky will be when my images are taken is taken I hope that it is sunny and there will be a sky something like that colour. I think that this colour scheme will work for me because they are all natural colours, and I think that it will suit the casual way in which my model will be dressed, and I hope that the natural colours will go with the old fashioned revitalized type of music that my magazine is going for.

Font Analysis

I like this font as the main font for all of the headings as you need a simple font that perhaps doesn't stand out too much so that I would suit with the type of music (indie rock/singer song writer) that will be inside of the magazine, a type of music that isn't standoutish, you can see this from what you stereotypical artists form my choice of genre wear it is the same as what most people wear. I also think that the faded effect reflects that the music is perhaps a bit old school the kind of music that people used to listen to years ago before auto tune and I think this font reflects that.

I chose this as my font for the bulk of the text it will be used for all of the font that isn't the headings, I wanted a font that is fairly standard and wasn't too fancy so the it is easily readable, and as most of the texts are going to be in this font then that is an important feature. I also didn't want a font that was completely bog standard I wanted it to be a bit different, I like the fact that it is bent out a bit so that it isn't completely straight and is a bit different like the style of music.

Tyler Blackett the cool the stylish and the idle, 5 top 10 hits and 3 number ones along with a number one album all at the age of 18, and just to make you all a little more envious he was the fourth top earning artist in the world. He is subject of millions of girls bedroom wall for his looks, voice and a never ending list of othe great qualities, also is a role model for boys and men a like for his money, skills with the ladies, and for being an all around cool guy, and I was lucky enough to meet he for an exclusive interview for us here at CORD magazine.

Whats   your   favourate artist to listen to? I really enjoy  listening  to  the Artic Monkeys, I like their style of music,   but  the  artist  that inspired   me   to   get  in to music   is    Jake    Bugg  ,he produces  great  music  and was just an average kid like me and  I  thought to myself

that  I  could do it, and here I am.

What  do  you  like to do in  you spare time? To  be honest not  alot,  ovbiously I spend  alot   of  time  in  the studio, but in my spare time I like to listen to music, hang out  with my mates, play on my  XBOX  oh  and I love to cook,  I  love  to  see  what  I can  do with food and really

test myself.

What    inspires    you   to write  music?  I dont know realy,  I guess that I just start thinking   about   stuff   that happened   to  me  people  I know   or  things  that  have just happened and just write what   I    think  about  them how  they make me feel and how    I    feel    about   other people

Have you always wanted to be a singer? Well  I have always   loved   singing,   and performing,  but I never took it   as   a   serious   dream  till acouple  of years ago when I got  a  great  reception at an

open    mike   nightm, then  I kind   of   believed  in  myself and took it to the next level.

What  are you ambitions for the future?  I just want to keep growing as an artist, to    collaborate   with   more people,  write   more    great music, perform in the biggest arenas    around   the   world and  to  entertain  people  as best  as  I  can, I want people to  enjoy  my  music  so I can feel  that  I am doing a good job.

Speech Feedback

When I presented my speech I got some feedback back about the type of magazine that I was thinking of making. My original idea was to do Hip Hop/ RnB but with the feedback that I received from my classmates and teachers suggested that this is a very difficult genre of music to do, due to the fact that everything that my model would be wearing would have to be brand new and he would have to look ultra trendy, and you also have to sort of consider the stereotypes that come along with being a artist in that genre. I took all of this information in to consideration and decided that I didn't believe that I would be able to pull it off, so I took their feedback a decided upon something that would be more in my comfort zone and the kind of music that is increasing in popularity now a days, indie rock mixed in with a bit of singer songwriter, as I believe that the resources that I have would be able to four fill this genre to a higher potential, and consequently end up with a better end product.
