Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product?
I have learnt a lot since I started making my magazine, I my understanding in to just how much work and thought goes in to everything that we buy every day in the shops. Before when I used to make something I used to just put it together and that would be that, but now when I approach a task when I am doing it i think of ways in which I could represent things better, or how things I have done look to other people and what they might think that it shows about me and my work.
I also have not only learnt about a wider range of technologies, I have also learnt how to use them, before if I was given a task I wouldn't have thought of anything other than different forms of Microsoft, now though I use loads of different ways of working and presenting my work that I am now using in other subjects. Not only have I learnt about new software's but I have improved in my usage of other software's, like Photoshop before I would struggle to put an image in to Photoshop yet alone do anything to it. Now I can put numerous images bits of text in, edit bits out I don't want remove backgrounds and modify images. It used to frustrate me and take a very long time to do anything, especially when doing the prelim, getting all of the different elements to come together was so annoying, I would have to ask Sir how to do what I wanted. Whereas in the final draft I could go straight in to Photoshop identify what was wrong know exactly how to fix it and then do it in no time at all.
From the prelim to the final I have learnt how to modify my images so that they aren't bright and glarey, but I also think that this may be down to the fact that I learnt how to take pictures better and how to set it up better, how to angle the lights to get rid of shadow on faces, how to change the camera to make sure that not everything was really bright (that was an early problem with a lot of my images).
I learnt how to make my work look more interesting, not only on my prelim but also my first and second drafts my work had to much order and formality to it, it was way to ordered in appearance it looked like a science book, everything looked boring. When this would fed back to me in the class feedback I decide to look at other features that I like from other magazines and put them in to mine. With my final draft I managed to keep that level of neatness and order, whilst managing to still make it look interesting.
